MACOMB COUNTY, MI – One person was rushed to a hospital in critical condition Sunday evening, April 14, after a pedestrian collision in the parking lot of a Target store in Shelby Township, reports CBS News Detroit.

The incident was reported at the location off of 26 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue, prompting a response from Shelby Township Police Department officers and first responders shortly after 7:30 p.m.

An early investigation found that a pedestrian was walking southbound through the lot when they were struck by a vehicle traveling westbound.

The pedestrian, who suffered life-threatening injuries, was transported to an area hospital.

Officials have not disclosed whether the cause of the crash has been determined, but the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with an investigation, which remains in progress.

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI – One person lost their life and three others were left injured Saturday afternoon, April 13, after they were struck by a vehicle on Interstate 75 in Springfield Township, according to ClickOnDetroit.

The fatal incident unfolded on the northbound lanes just south of East Holly Road, just before 1:15 p.m.

A preliminary investigation indicates four people who were involved in a four-vehicle wreck in the left lane within a construction zone. At one point, sometime after all the parties had gotten out of their vehicles to exchange information and were reportedly in the middle of the roadway when another vehicle hit the back of one of the involved cars.

Officials said the impact created a chain reaction that struck and injured three people who were involved in the initial collision.

First responders pronounced a 24-year-old from Alpena deceased at the scene.

Michigan State Police troopers had to treat another person with a tourniquet for a compound fracture before sending the patient to a hospital.

A third victim and the driver of the causing car were also transported for minor injuries.

An investigation into the circumstances of the second collision remain in progress.

CLINTON COUNTY, MI – A 38-year-old man from the St. Johns area lost his life Sunday afternoon as a result of a motorcycle versus car collision in Bingham Township, according to CBS News Detroit.

The fatal incident unfolded on a stretch of South Dewitt Road north of Yallup Road. Clinton County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene at around 1:30 p.m.

Officials say the victim was operating a motorcycle southbound on the road when, for reasons still under investigation, he lost control of the bike, which veered into the northbound lane and hit a passenger car.

The rider was pronounced deceased at the scene, confirmed officials.

The driver of the involved car, a 17-year-old boy from the Dewitt area, was not reported hurt.

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI – A pair of collisions early Thursday, April 11, on Interstate 75 near Hazel Park claimed a driver’s life and left two others injured, according to CBS News Detroit.

The fatal accidents unfolded on the southbound highway near 8 Mile Road at around 5:45 a.m. Michigan State troopers and first responders were dispatched to the scene shortly after.

Officials say that in one wreck, a 37-year-old Oak Park man was driving a Chevrolet SUV at a high rate of speed in the left lane when he lost control of the vehicle. The SUV traveled across the entire southbound highway before colliding with the bridge support and then arriving at a stop in the right lane.

While the Oak Park sustained only minor injuries in this crash, a second crash in the area left a 26-year-old Chesterfield man with fatal injuries. Preliminary details indicate the Chesterfield man was operating a Chevrolet Cruze when he also lost control of his vehicle due to speed. After striking the bridge support and coming to a stop in the left lane, the Cruze was struct by a Dodge Avenger.

The 26-year-old Chesterfield man died at the scene, confirmed troopers. The decedent’s autopsy results and an investigation remain in progress.

The driver of the Dodge Avenger reported only minor injuries.

Part of I-75 was shut down for an extended time for the emergency response and investigation.

COOK COUNTY, IL – Authorities are investigating a semi-truck crash that occurred Thursday afternoon, April 11, on Interstate 696 in Oak Park, reports Oakland County Times.

Michigan State Police and Oak Park Public Safety crews were on the scene at Greenfield Road. Photos shared by Oak Park Public Safety on social media at about 2:00 p.m. show the big rig overturned on its side, and at least two fire engines responding.

At least part of the interstate was shut down in the area as crews worked to right the truck and clear the area. Alternate routes were recommended.

At this time, no injuries or charges have been confirmed.

DETROIT, MI – A vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon blocked multiple lanes on the Jeffries Freeway in northwest Detroit, according to TTWN Detroit.

The collision occurred on the eastbound lanes (Interstate 96) after Exit 186 to Davison West, near the Littlefield Community. It was first reported by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) some time before 2:05 p.m.

As of this writing, officials have not disclosed the cause or nature of the accident, but the three left lanes were closed as a result.

MACOMB COUNTY, MI – A woman lost her life early Saturday, April 6, due to a crash involving two OWI suspects in Sterling Heights that injured three other people, including a child, reports ClickOnDetroit.

The fatal accident took place near 15 Mile Road and Stanley Drive at around 1:38 a.m.

According to local police, a Detroit man was operating a Ford Explorer eastbound on 15 Mile Road when the Ford veered past the center line and collided head-on with a westbound Honda Pilot that was occupied by six people, including a child, from Windsor, Ontario.

First responders rushed a woman and a child to an area hospital where the woman succumbed to her injuries. Officials indicated that the child was listed in life-threatening condition.

A woman who was a passenger in the Explorer was also transported to the hospital with major injuries.

While the two drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, both drivers were suspected of impairment. Officials took the driver of the Explorer into custody and had him transported to the Macomb County Jail while the driver of the Pilot was taken to a local hospital with unspecified injuries.

DETROIT, MI – A vehicle accident was reported Monday morning on Interstate 696 in northeast Detroit’s Oak neighborhood, according to MDOT – Metro Detroit.

DETROIT, MI – Authorities were dispatched to a vehicle accident Friday afternoon that blocked a State Highway 39 offramp in northwest Detroit, according to MDOT – Metro Detroit.

The accident was reported on the ramp from northbound M-39 to West Seven Mile Road (Exit 14), in the city’s College Park area. It was first reported by MDOT at 3:23 p.m.

WAYNE COUNTY, IL — One person lost their life following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon, April 2, at a Dearborn Heights intersection that left two people injured, reports ClickOnDetroit.

Officials say the fatal crash happened on Van Born Road near Gulley Road at 3:30 p.m.

Preliminary details revealed that a 31-year-old Detroit man was driving a tow truck westbound on Van Born Road when the truck collided with an eastbound passenger car that was turning northbound onto Gulley.

First responders transported the driver of the tow truck to a Metro Detroit hospital where his condition remains undisclosed.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, a 24-year-old Ohio man, suffered minor injuries, but his passenger, a 27-year-old Ohio woman, died from her injuries after being transported to a Metro Detroit hospital.

It’s unclear at this time which driver was at fault in the incident. An investigation remains open and ongoing.
