OAKLAND COUNTY, MI – Two men died following a hit-and-run pedestrian crash Saturday evening, May 18, in Watership Township that injured at least 14 others, including children, reports ClickOnDetroit.

Officials said the incident unfolded on South Wacousta Road near Corrison Road, in an area northwest of Lansing, at about 6:30 p.m.

Preliminary details show that at least 16 people, all family members, were walking on the shoulder of South Wacousta Road. At one point, a vehicle driven by a DUI suspect crashed into the group and then continued away from the scene.

Two men, a 30-year-old Grand Haven resident and a 42-year-old Grand Ledge resident, were pronounced deceased at the scene.

First responders rushed 14 other people to an area hospital for various injuries. By late Sunday, eight of the victims had been released from the hospital, but six others remained listed in critical condition.

Among the injured are 8 juveniles, including two 2-year-olds, a 3-year-old, two 6-year-olds, a 7-year-old, an 8-year-old, and a 16-year-old.

On Saturday, several miles from the crash site, deputies were able to stop and arrest a 35-year-old woman from the village of Perrinton for her alleged role in the incident. She was booked into Clinton County Jail and on Monday, May 20, was expected to be arraigned on charges, which include drunk driving.

An investigation remains ongoing.

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI – A 57-year-old man from Saginaw was fatally injured late last Thursday afternoon when his motorcycle collided with another vehicle in Commerce Charter Township, reports MLIVE.

Oakland County deputies responded to the scene on Sleeth Road at Marcello Drive on May 16, shortly after 4:30 p.m.

According to preliminary details, the victim was operating a motorcycle westbound on Sleeth Road when a 2024 Ford Edge that was heading eastbound turned left onto Marcello Drive, into his direct path, causing a crash.

First responders rushed the rider to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased at the scene. Officials noted he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The driver of the Ford Edge, a 60-year-old woman from Farmington Hills, was not reported hurt. No information regarding pending charges or citations has been released at this time.

An investigation remains ongoing, but alcohol is not a suspected factor.

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI – The Michigan Department of Transportation is reporting that a traffic accident has shut down the left lane of traffic on eastbound I-696 past Orchard Lake Road.

MDOT reported the crash at 6:18 p.m. They say only the right lane is open right now. Rush hour commuters should avoid the area if possible and seek alternate routes.

NEW HUDSON, MI – A disabled vehicle was blocking eastbound traffic on I-96 past Exit 153 to Kent Lake earlier this evening, the Michigan Department of Transportation reports.

MDOT announced the incident via X shortly after 11 p.m. It said the vehicle was blocking the right lane and right shoulder, leaving a single lane open.

MACOMB COUNTY, MI – Authorities were dispatched to a crash Wednesday morning that partially blocked Interstate 696 near Warren, according to TTWN Detroit.

The collision impacted the westbound lanes past Exit 24 and the Hoover Road overpass. It was first recorded by the Michigan Department of Transportation at 6:30 a.m., when two right lanes were reported closed and traffic had backed up to Bunert Road at Exit 26, in the Groesbeck area.

By 6:50 a.m., the closure had upgraded to include three right lanes, and stop-and-go traffic was reported back to Interstate 94.

It’s unclear whether anyone required transport to a hospital following the wreck, but by 7:00 a.m., crews had cleared the scene from the roadway and all lanes were restored to traffic.

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI – A vehicle accident Monday afternoon blocked a left shoulder and left lane on Interstate 96 in Novi, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation – Metro Detroit.

Officials said the wreck occurred on the eastbound highway at Exit 162 to Novi Road, near Adell Water Tower. It was first reported by MDOT at 2:26 p.m.

Little information has been made available at this time, but the partial closure remained in place for at least 40 minutes, suggesting a more involved emergency response.

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI – Authorities responded to a wrong-way crash early Sunday near Madison Heights involving two drivers suspected of impairment, according to The Oakland Press.

Michigan State Police said the wreck occurred near Dequindre Road at about 4:30 a.m.

Preliminary details show a Chrysler 300 was traveling eastbound on the westbound freeway when it collided head-on with a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The driver of the Chrysler, a 40-year-old man from Eastpointe, was transported to an area hospital for unspecified injuries. MSP officials said a search warrant was obtained, allowing for his blood to be drawn, subsequently revealing him to have been impaired.

The driver of the Jeep, 52, of Huntington, Indiana, was also suspected of impairment. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of unknown injuries and a blood draw.

Both blood tests are expected to be submitted to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office are the results come in.

WAYNE COUNTY, MI – A 4-year-old boy lost his life Monday afternoon as a result of a multi-vehicle crash involving a DUI suspect on Interstate 75 in Detroit, reports CBS News Detroit.

The fatal collision unfolded near Piquette Avenue, in the city’s Milwaukee Junction area, at about 1:10 p.m.

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI – An 84-year-old woman died following a collision early Sunday on State Highway 5 near Novi, according to Fox 2 Detroit.

Novi Police were called to the scene on at the intersection with 13 Mile Road some time after 7:15 a.m.

Officials say the elderly woman, a local resident, was driving eastbound on 13 Mile and had entered the intersection when her vehicle collided with a vehicle traveling southbound on the highway.

First responders pronounced the woman deceased at the scene.

It was not immediately clear whether the other driver, a 59-year-old West Bloomfield man, was injured.

An investigation remains in progress, but drugs and alcohol are not suspected factors in the accident. No charges or citations have been reported at this time.
