OAKLAND COUNTY, MI – A motorcyclist lost their life late Saturday, July 6, as a result of a crash involving two other vehicles in Independence Charter Township, reports WXYZ.
The accident, which happened near the intersection with Fowler Drive, occurred as the victim, 42, failed to negotiate a curve while operating their motorcycle. Moments later, the bike veered past the center line and sideswiped a northbound Jeep Compass.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the impact of the initial crash sent the rider falling onto the roadway before they were struck by a northbound Ford Bronco.
First responders pronounced the motorcyclist deceased at the scene. He was found to have been wearing a helmet at the time of the wreck.
None of the other drivers were hurt, and no charges or citations have been reported.
An investigation was in progress, but officials said speed appeared to have been a contributing factor.
