Few people leave their homes each day worrying that they will be in a serious motor vehicle crash. Unfortunately, more than 40,000 people died in car crashes in 2016, which was a 6 percent increase from the previous year. That is an average of about 110 people dying in car wrecks each day.

A serious car accident can completely change your life. For those fortunate enough to survive such an accident, the aftereffects can include being unable to return to work, brain and spinal cord injuries, financial difficulties because of the medical bills and much, much more. When you or a loved one is injured in an accident that wasn’t your fault, you can file a civil lawsuit to receive compensation for your injuries and damages.

A serious, multi-vehicle crash happened on I-94 on Friday, March 2. Just as rush hour was beginning at 5 p.m., three vehicles crashed into each other in the westbound lanes of the interstate. The vehicles involved were a pickup truck and two SUVs.

Two people involved in the crash were critically injured and taken to local hospitals. Their current conditions were not reported. While the cause of the accident has not been specifically identified, it is possible that ice make the roads slick, leading to the collision.

Even if the weather contributed to the accident, the driver that caused the crash may have been driving too fast for conditions.

Vehicle crashes cannot always be avoided. However, you can avoid many of the financial problems associated with a crash by seeking and receiving compensation from the at-fault driver for your injuries and damages.
