Elderly passenger dies in three-car accident

An 85-year-old woman was a passenger in a three-car crash in Michigan, and she tragically perished in the wreck. Authorities are still investigating the accident to determine exactly why it occurred.

What they know so far is that the woman was in a Buick Regal. That vehicle was pulling out of a driveway and attempting to cross E. Auburn Road to enter another driveway.

At the same time, a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado was on Auburn, heading west. The pick-up truck slammed into the sedan as it went over the road, hitting it in the side hard enough that it was pushed over into a third driveway. A Buick Enclave was sitting in that driveway, also waiting to get into the road, and the Regal hit it.

The impact was bad enough that the elderly woman was trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed by emergency response teams from the City of Rochester Hills Fire Department. They got her out and rushed her over to Troy, to Beaumont Hospital, but the doctors were not able to save her.

The driver of the Enclave was not hurt in the accident, nor was the driver of the Silverado. The driver of the Buick was seriously hurt, but his status is now listed as stable. He's also at Beaumont Hospital.

Police noted that everyone had their seat belts on during the wreck, and that they don't think alcohol use played a role.

This story shows just how fast an accident can change someone's life forever, taking the life of a loved one. Surviving family members need to know what rights they may have to compensation after these types of incidents.
