OAKLAND COUNTY, MI – A 68-year-old man died following a hit-and-run collision last Thursday, June 6, in Auburn Hills that left another person in critical condition, according to Patch.
At about 7:00 p.m., local police were attempting to pull over a driver behind the wheel of a red 2020 Kia Forte, which was speeding southbound on Lapeer Road between Dutton Road and Walton Boulevard.
Officials say that even though the pursuit was terminated once the Kia began traveling at 88 miles per hour, the vehicle ultimately collided with a 2002 tan Ford F-150 in the area of Walton Boulevard and Perry Street.
Crews worked to extricate the driver of the pickup, a 68-year-old man, before rushing him to a local hospital, but he was later pronounced deceased.
A passenger in the Kia, a woman of unknown age, was also transported to an area hospital with critical injuries.
Police say the driver of the Kia, who fled the scene on foot, remains at large.
